I am sure I'm not the only one that sees this. We come off of Bush and Cheney "deficits don't matter" with huge deficit spending. Medicare Part D prescription, no child left behind, and two wars went unfunded (among others). With a huge deficit, doesn't that lend itself all too well to having to cut entitlements?
The only hitch is making sure that taxes aren't raised to increase revenues. So is it any wonder that the Republicans are fighting so hard to make the Bush tax cuts permanent? I think not.
I loved the rhetoric on the Sunday political shows. Rubio said that Republicans were "adding money to medicare" and that the only party cutting medicare was the Democrats. Ryan has said that the Republicans are "saving medicare". I've heard other Republicans saying that 50% of Americans don't pay taxes. To me this is all just smoke and mirrors hiding the real agenda of ending medicare, medicaid, and social security. I look for the Republicans to privatize them all.
